40 Stories - SH
Current PADV Client
SH (used to protect her identity) never imagined she would need to contact a domestic violence shelter, but when the abuse started she turned to her coworkers at the local hotel where she worked for help. After listening to the warm and caring voice on the PADV crisis hotline, SH knew she had to make a dramatic change in her life and made the difficult decision to enter one of PADV’s safe houses.
SH has been a client of PADV for six months and will soon be transitioning into our supportive housing program. She says the support that she has received from her advocates at PADV, including Ebony and Pam was phenomenal and that Bre’shae, PADV’s volunteer coordinator, was beyond what she could have imagined.
“During one of the most challenging times in my life, I gained an incomparable support system from a place I least expected I would turn to, and one that was completely outside of my family and friend network,” said SH.
“My Team,” as she affectionately refers to the PADV staff, encouraged SH to reignite her passion for living a productive life and maximizing her potential. PADV matched SH with a number of community resources to assist with financial management, career and educational advancement, as well as emotional and spiritual support.
SH wants the world to know that PADV is an excellent program and provides survivors the opportunity to begin their journey of healing and transitioning into self-sufficiency.
“The team and services, which include Ms. Pam’s Women’s Empowerment Group, has proven to be an empowering and effective program for me and others,” said SH. “Ebony’s dedication to the well-being of all children who come through the shelter doors is unmatchable and incredible to witness.”
If you are ready to get help, “PADV is a wonderful program.”
