Hearts with Hope
Hearts with Hope is the signature fundraising event of PADV and the gala supports PADV's efforts to end domestic violence in metro Atlanta. Event proceeds support violence prevention, emergency intervention and long-term advocacy for battered women and their children. |
Background: |
Founded in 1975, Partnership Against Domestic Violence (PADV) is the largest and one of the oldest domestic violence organizations in Georgia. Their mission is to end the crime of intimate partner violence and empower its survivors. The annual Hearts with Hope gala, first held in 1988, is the primary fundraiser & stewardship event for PADV. |

Hope Award |
Since 2001, the Hope Award recognizes and honors outstanding efforts of an individual in the metro Atlanta area who has made a significant contribution toward supporting battered women in their efforts to live violence free. The first award was presented to Susan May, founder of PADV (then known as Council on Battered Women). Other past recipients include Pat King, Dr. Sheryl Heron, Washington Mutual, Senator David Adelman, Attorney General Thurbert Baker, former Atlanta Falcons player Alge Crumpler, Verizon Wireless and Avon Products. The 2011 Hope Award winner will be announced within the upcoming months. |

In 2005, this award was added to recognize and honor the significant achievements of a survivor who has overcome the barriers to living violence free. |
Attendance/ Funds Raised: |
Attendance has grown to 600 people. PADV raised $365,000 in 2007, $700,000 in 2008 (Co-Chairs Cammie and John Rice) and $618,000 in 2009 (Co-Chairs Suzanne Sitherwood and Guy Griswold). In 2010, even with a still-struggling economy, Co-Chairs Susie Trotochaud and Scott Dorfman helped PADV raise $570,000! Our goal for 2011 is back up to $650,000 |
