Since 2001, the Hope Award recognizes and honors outstanding efforts of an individual in the metro Atlanta area who has made a significant contribution toward supporting battered women in their efforts to live violence free.
The first award was presented to Susan May, founder of PADV (then known as Council on Battered Women). Other past recipients include Pat King, Dr. Sheryl Heron, Washington Mutual, Senator David Adelman, Attorney General Thurbert Baker, former Atlanta Falcons player Alge Crumpler, Verizon Wireless and Avon Products. The 2011 Hope Award winner will be announced within the upcoming months.
