Join the PADV Team!

In 1975, PADV began as a volunteer-led agency to provide support to women experiencing domestic violence. Today, volunteers continue to help us carry out our mission by providing an array of services including answering our 24/7 crisis line, legal advocacy, community outreach, support groups and children’s activities. Without the hard work and dedication of passionate volunteers, PADV would not be where we are today.

We are always looking for caring, compassionate and committed individuals and groups to support the work we do. If you want to make a difference in your community, PADV may be the place for you! Please see the requirements below for our qualifications and volunteer process.

You must be at least 18 years old to volunteer in our safe houses. (Teens who are 16+ may volunteer on a case by case basis when accompanied by an adult.)

Wait at least 12 months after a personal experience with intimate partner violence before applying to volunteer.

Complete an application and phone interview before signing up for orientation.

Pass a criminal background check and cover the cost for processing. (Unfortunately, PADV is not allowed to accept background checks from another agency).

Complete all required training, including a PADV orientation class. Additional training is required for crisis line, support group, children’s program, legal advocacy
and community outreach work.

Commit to volunteering at least 2 shifts per month for a minimum of 6 months. *PADV relies heavily on volunteers to support our staff. Please be sure you are able to make this commitment before submitting your application. If you are interested in volunteering, please send an email to our Volunteer Coordinator at [email protected]
